survey, but senators are betting on line poker. the gambling industry sees california as the biggest market in the world and it is lobbying for internet poker. legalizing it here would give the state a share of the profits. senate leader says it would pour hundreds of millions of dollars into the treasury. federal budget cuts in health care and social service for people living with hiv/aids. cuts which one supervisor calls devastating according to the "san francisco chronicle." a spokeswoman says he is willing, but the mayor has to cope with a $170 million budget deficit. another setback for the sheriff.

a judge ruled today that video taken of the sheriff's wife can be used during misconduct proceedings. these are still shots of the video why which you can see a bruise on her right arm. mayor lee wants the sheriff removed from the position. back in march, he pleaded guilty to a false imprisonment charge. this evening, san jose could be making pay day history. the city council could make it the nation's largest city to cap the number of pay day store fronts. the pay day lenders with the ads and dollar signs crowding their windows are numerous in the lower-income neighborhoods where they are accused of taking advantage of the poor with the high interest rates on their short-term loans. measure facing the city council tonight would cap the interest rates at 30%.

palo alto's landscape will ge slightly. an approval of the five--story building on the real estate area in palo alto. the gateway building will go up at lytton avenue. it will house three floors of office and retail space. it was controversial because it required a zoning change. greenpeace is urging apple to turn the icloud green. messages were calling on apple to make changes. they say apple relies too much on coal-fired power plants to fuel the icloud. the facility for the icloud in north carolina will be efficient and supply more than half of the income from renewable sources. we are just days away from what will likely be the biggest

internet ipo ever. social offering is hitting roadblocks. some untimely news for facebook today. general motors says it will pull all of its ads from facebook. gm says they feel their ads are ineffective on facebook. the move comes on the same day a new cnbc poll shows 57% of facebook users say they never click on the ads. in the first quarter, facebook made $824 million from ad sales. the ipo looks to be a big hit. facebook is said to be thinking of offering more shares to the public. >> this is part of an amazing run from the tiny start up to global jiegiant. >> it wasn't that long ago that facebook was a way for college students to communicate with each other. now it has become much more. we look at facebook's time line

on the campaign trail today, a well-known openly gay supporter of mitt romney is pulling his support. bill white is the ceo of the new york-based consulting firm. he supported both democrats and republicans in the years past. after president obama's support of same-sex marriage last week, white wrote a letter to romney

d destination. the alzheimer's prevention drug tested on people with no signs of dementia. it will be tested on a small region in colombia. the study will be funded by the obama administration. that announcement came today. the goal is to find the treatment for the disease by 2015. another study will focus on a nasal spray that sends insulin directly to the brain based on alzheimer's and diabetes may be linked. seven-day forecast. next thing we are focusing on is the jet stream. we will squeeze out drizzle here in the next 24 hours. for our wednesday, we stay breezy and mild for walnut creek and san jose and silicon valley. thursday, the upper area of low pressure is when it looks like it will bring back fog and drizzle at the coastline and at the south bay. most of the cloud cover against the coastline. also the bay bridge will encounter the low clouds. by the afternoon hours, it pushes back. you will see if you are headed out to the beach for tomorrow, it will be cloudy at times with the filtered sunshine as we can't get rid of the cloud cover. 51 in san francisco. 49 in santa cruz. low 50s from livermore to the valley. today is the first day of the

pacific turn season. usher in the first day, we are following tropical storm aletta. it is away from the u.s. mainland and to the south of mexico. it is a storm for the fish. winds at 45 miles an hour. it looks to dissipate by saturday at this point. it is a strong and early start here for our season. 77 in san jose. 79 in evergreen. it seems cool because of the hot weather. this is actually right where we should be for this time of year with 78 in danville. 77 in dublin. 60s in san francisco. 77 in santa rosa. on the three-day forecast, numbers go down into thursday and friday. here is the pattern. up and down and all over the place. 80s for saturday and sunday inland. by monday and tuesday, 70 degree temperatures come on back. so, you know, it has been three years now and mother nature is giving us what we should have this time of year.
